Evohé is a dream come true

This adventure was conceived in 2006 around three young enthusiasts: Alfonso Mort, Ricardo Mosteo and Henrik Heikel

There intention started with the mission to share with the wider world the wisdom of generations of winemakers dedicated to the development and elaboration of the variety Garnacha also known as Grenache, that is so characteristic of Aragon.

Garnacha comes from Sardinia as a specimen of plant. The Island was at this time part of the kingdom of Aragon where it was brought to these fields and trained. We see Aragon as the birthplace of this Grape due to that this took place in the 12-century. It and later spread to the world starting with the neighboring country, France (Grenache).

After looking in several areas, we found what we sought for, Lécera in one of the most remote lands of Aragon.... (Continued)

Evohé Garnacha Viñas Viejas

Evohé as a winery has gone back to the essence of wine making. Making wines from the original Garnacha from Aragon where it has been made for centuries. Evohé is a smooth wine that is extremely easy to drink because it has such balanced tannins, due to the ripeness of the seeds have completely evolve with no tart aftertaste… no oaking of any kind. We are moving on to develop other original ideas. Proving the point that making something traditional and listening to what has been done in the past still has a place in wine making. (Continued)

::: NEW ::: Evohé Tempranillo

The Vintage of 2011

We have now taken in all our grapes for the 2011 vintage. What we can see in this very early stages for this vintage is very good. What has marked the vintage is the low rains and the relatively low temperatures in July. As we cultivate 3 grapes in 3 Zones/VT the only way to really explain it by the region and Grape.

Garnacha: the area of Bajo Aragon
Most areas of Bajo Aragon has not seen a rainfall since April. Outtake was very low. Some vines only produced a 30% of what we had expected as outtake. This left the grapes with a bit lower in color then other years but taste wise it is not really detectable. Still for us the consequences would be leaving our thick almost black center for a lighter but still Thick and dense coloration. Pallet is full and the seeds came in darkened giving a ripe balance to the wine.

Tempranillo: the Area of Cinco Villas
This area was lightly effected by the lower temperatures of July. Dry but lower temperatures gave in a slower. We compensated by lightly extend the maturation on vines giving parts of the vines light over matured tones. And we were lucky. No rains came and the vines stayed healthy. Wine is tasting great. We may even have come on to something very interesting by attempting this.

Mazuelo: the area of Valdejalon
First year that we have taken in this noble native grape, Mazuela also known as Cariñena or Carignan in French. Valdejalon, the south western area of Aragon had a good maturation. A nice coloration and frisky acidity that is so common for this grape.

Faze 2 is now about to start: The Malolactic fermentation. We will keep you posted with how it goes.

Evohé in Yukon-Canada!!!

The latest News from us!!!

Evohé Garnacha is this month one of the main Featured wines in the Yukon province of Canada!!! This is the most remote territory in this country where Eskimos live!!! It´s one thing getting it to NY, Berlin, Tokio or any normal place, but when you get a special feature in the Yukon, WOW... Its bloody amazing!!! Ha ha haa

I wonder how Evohé Garnacha matches with Seal Stew or Caribu?? ;-D I am sure it must be fantastic!!!

And it´s due to the good taste we got in! This is what the "Yukon Liquor Board" Wrote:

Evohé - Vinos de la Tierra: Garnacha is the king of reds in Spain - the country´s most widely planted red grape. there is no oak treatment, and no bottle aging on this red, resulting in a vibrant and fruit forward wine, with ripe and rich raspberry, violet and pepper aromas. The palette is fresh and tannins are light and smooth, buoyed by cherry, red currants, anise, dark floral and kirsch flavors. If you want to try a historically evocative Garnacha, this is it. Savor with pork tenderloin, or grill up smoked Chorizo alongside local potatoes for a little Patatas con Chorizo.

Well now you know what to order when you visit your local Shop in Whitehorse… LOL

"The seeds do not want to sleep in boxes of gold. They prefer the land, even the most arid. "
Valeriu Butulescu

Every project is born from an illusion of a desire to improve, become unique or collective. To put in writing our project does not result as a simple task since our mind populates with sensations, anecdotes, emotions and feelings tingling on the surface of my skin.... this always happens when I get nostalgic.

Evohé is born of a common illusion for the world of wine built on small pieces representing the way we see and feel the surrounding world with its concerns and joy, but always trying to convey to those around us that it is possible to develop a business that has soul like our shared world embraced by happiness and suffering.

To understand us you must understand our land: Aragón, hard in appearance with its hostile aridness but soft as clay from which we built our grandparents houses.

We are committed to our surroundings, our environment, seeing as we slowly wither by not knowing how to show the world what we are and why we are.

From this arises Evohé with the variety that is none other than the Grenacha in the Lower Aragon (Bajo Aragón). Making our wine: a wine that involves our earth, which is desiccated but for us symbolizing joy, desire to live happy with what surrounds us and to be remembered in time.

This is how we are and so is Evohé. Other little brothers to the Garnacha have arrived from other areas of Aragon also conveying those feelings of our land as Tempranillo in Ribera del Gallego-Cinco Villas: hospitable to the traveler, filed with kindness in its heard.

There will be more brothers with the personality of a land and its people composed of small sets of tones that makes it´s beautiful as we feel the need to show the innumerable hues of the land as diversity that is being forgotten.
